MELBOURNE - Sep 21/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak high pressure system over eastern New South Wales is drifting towards the Tasman Sea as a trough moves into the state's west. This trough will move across southern districts today while the high maintains a ridge across the north. A second and stronger trough is forecast to to reach the western border during Monday, continuing to the coast on Tuesday. Hot northerly winds affect many areas ahead of this trough, with only slightly cooler conditions following and little if any rainfall resulting. A more significant cool change appears likely to arrive towards the end of the week. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers in the southeast, becoming scattered about the southern ranges and coast during the afternoon with the chance of thunderstorms, and possibly extending into the central tablelands. The chance of afternoon showers or thunderstorms about the northern coast and adjacent ranges. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. A few early fog patches in the east. Very warm day in the northwest. Light winds in the east, with afternoon sea breezes developing. Freshening west to northwesterly winds in the west.Monday 23 SeptemberThe chance of an early shower on the northern coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere, though cloud increasing in the southwest. Hot day in the west with some raised dust possible. Freshening northwest to northeasterly winds, becoming strong and gusty in the far west.Tuesday 24 SeptemberMostly sunny. Hot day for the northern inland. West to northwesterly winds, tending fresh northeasterly on the north coast. Southerly change on the south coast later.Wednesday 25 SeptemberMostly sunny. Hot day for the northwest.
