and Coalfields district for today.

and Upper Flinders for Saturday.
For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's
web site www.bom.gov.au/qld
Weather Situation
A weakening surface trough lies from the Peninsula to the southern Coral Sea.
A high pressure system over South Australia that extends a ridge across the
interior in the wake of the trough will slowly move east to New South Wales.
Forecast for the rest of Friday
Fine, dry and clear across most of the state. Mainly moderate SE to SW winds
across the state, fresh at times during the afternoon about the western
districts and the southern interior. A Very High to Severe Fire Danger over the
Central Highlands and Coalfields district. A High to Very High Fire Danger over
the remainder of the state.
Forecast for Saturday
Fine, dry and sunny conditions will continue across much of the state with
only a chance of some isolated afternoon showers about the Central Coast. Clear
skies and light winds should result in cooler minimum temperatures for much of
the interior with areas of frost possible over the southeast Granite Belt. Above
average maxima through much of the state, especially the northern half of the
state. A Very High to Severe Fire Danger over the Gulf Country and Northern
Goldfields and Upper Flinders. A High to Very High Fire Danger over much of the
remainder of the state.
Forecast for Sunday
The high pressure system should drift eastwards into the Tasman Sea, and is
likely to push more low level moisture over southeast Queensland. This
moisture, in combination with an upper trough, is expected to produce an area of
isolated showers and thunderstorms across eastern districts south of about
Townsville. Clear skies and light winds should result in cooler minimum
temperatures for much of the southern interior with areas of frost possible over
the Granite Belt. Fine and mostly sunny with above average maximum temperatures
across the remainder of the state.
Forecast for Monday
The high should remain slow moving over the Tasman Sea and maintain a ridge
of high pressure over eastern Queensland, with fine and sunny conditions
expected throughout the state. A vigorous surface trough should move through
central and southeastern Australia, generating hot and gusty N'ly winds and
elevated Fire Dangers across western Queensland.
Forecast for Tuesday
The high will move into the southern Coral Sea and extend a ridge along the
eastern Queensland coast. Hot and gusty northwesterly winds in the interior of
the state will lead to maximum temperatures well above the September average.
Fine and sunny conditions will prevail across the entire state.
Outlook for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
The high should slowly drift northeastwards into the Coral Sea during the
outlook period, directing moist onshore flow and isolated showers onto the east
coast of Cape York Peninsula by mid-week. A series of surface troughs should
move across southeastern Australia, generating hot and gusty N'ly winds and
elevated Fire Dangers across the interior. One of these trough may move into the
southwest on Friday generating isolated showers. Otherwise fine, dry and mostly
sunny conditions should persist with maximum temperatures well above the
September average.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:45 am EST
Saturday.
