U.S. Meat Output Below Year Ago
Commercial red meat production for the United States totaled 4.20 billion
pounds in August, down 4 percent from the 4.39 billion pounds produced in
August 2012.
Beef production, at 2.24 billion pounds, was 5 percent below the previous
year. Cattle slaughter totaled 2.82 million head, down 6 percent from August
