Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 18/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system centred over the far southern New South Wales coast is weakening and move southwards. During Wednesday another trough will move across New South Wales, generating windy conditions in most districts. During this time, a weak high pressure system is forecast to develop over South Australia before drifting east during Thursday and Friday, maintaining generally fine conditions.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers over the southern border districts, mainly about the western slopes of the southern ranges, with the chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Snow showers about the Alps, lowering to about 1400 metres later in the day. Fresh and gusty west northwesterly winds in the east, tending northeasterly about the northern coast in the afternoon. A fresh west to southwesterly change extending across the west. Dangerous surf in the far south.Thursday 19 SeptemberIsolated showers over the southeast, chiefly about the western slopes of the southern ranges. Snow showers about the Alps above 1300 metres, mainly morning. Northwest to southwesterly winds over most of the state, although east to northeasterly over the far south coast. Moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds.Friday 20 SeptemberThe chance of showers in the southeast, more likely about the Alps. West to southwesterly winds, fresh in the southeast, turning easterly about the northern coast in the afternoon.Saturday 21 SeptemberThe chance of showers in the southeast, chiefly about the Alps. Fine elsewhere. Generally light and variable winds, turning northerly in the west during the afternoon.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Wednesday.Product IDN10031
