Instability will increase to the east of the trough, though with just the chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms about eastern districts south of about Mackay due to a lack of moisture elsewhere. Some patchy cloud will develop over the northeast tropics during the day with possible isolated showers about the ranges. Fine and mostly sunny conditions will occur to the southwest of the trough and elsewhere through the tropics. Maximum temperatures will remain well above the September average near and to the northeast of the trough, with enhanced fire dangers likely in gusty W'ly winds through the central and southeast interior. Forecast for Friday The surface trough should contract off the southern and central Queensland coast during the morning and may help to trigger some early isolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the Capricornia and Wide Bay and Burnett districts. Fine and mostly sunny conditions should occur elsewhere. Maximum temperatures are expected to remain above the September average for most eastern and northern districts. Outlook for Saturday, Sunday and Monday A weak high pressure system through southern Queensland should help to maintain dry and mostly sunny conditions across much of the state during the outlook period. The clear skies and light winds through the south may also result in some cooler than average minimum temperatures and possible light early morning frost on the Granite Belt during the weekend. A new trough will most likely develop over the interior of the state on Sunday, with possible isolated showers and thunderstorms developing over central and southeast districts to its east. Maximum temperatures will remain well above the September average across much of the state during the outlook period. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST Tuesday.
