MELBOURNE - Sep 15/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system to the southeast of Tasmania will move slowly eastwards. A low pressure system over the eastern Bight will move across eastern South Australia early Monday before slowly tracking across Victoria on Monday and Tuesday morning, deepening off the far East Gippsland coast later on Tuesday. The low pressure system will move to the east of Tasmania on Wednesday as another trough weakens as it moves across western Victoria later in the day. The next cold front is also likely to weaken as it crosses the Bight on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of SundayPatchy rain and possible isolated thunderstorms over the west, gradually extending to central districts this evening. Light to moderate north to northeasterly winds.Monday 16 SeptemberAreas of rain over southern and eastern districts contracting to the east in the evening. Scattered showers elsewhere, particularly in the afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms possible over most districts, mainly over the northern plains in the afternoon. A generally cool to mild day with moderate to fresh northeast to northerly winds shifting west to southwesterly in the west in the late afternoon and evening.Tuesday 17 SeptemberRain areas over the east contracting to Gippsland in the afternoon but isolated showers persisting elsewhere. Showers increasing over the east during the afternoon with the chance of isolated thunderstorms over the northeast and far East Gippsland. A mild day with light to moderate west to southwesterly winds extending to most districts during the day although fresh easterly winds persisting near the Gippsland coast into the afternoon.Wednesday 18 SeptemberScattered showers near and south of the ranges, mainly in the afternoon. Showers tending more isolated over Gippsland and the northern plains. A cool to mild day with light to moderate north to northwesterly winds tending moderate west to northwesterly during the afternoon.Thursday 19 SeptemberIsolated showers in the south and about the eastern ranges. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with light to moderate west to southwesterly winds, locally fresh near the coast.
