Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 14/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A narrow ridge of high pressure to the east of Victoria will move slowly east, forming a high centre over the southern Tasman Sea during the weekend. A weak low pressure trough will linger over Victoria on Saturday. A low pressure system will develop at the head of the Bight on Saturday before moving over South Australia on Sunday then slowly tracking across Victoria on Monday and Tuesday morning, finally deepening off the Gippsland coast later on Tuesday. Another low pressure trough will be crossing Bight waters on Tuesday and looks set to affect Victoria on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayMorning fog patches in the west. Scattered showers developing, mainly in the west and about the eastern highlands during the day with isolated showers in the afternoon over most other areas. The chance of afternoon thunderstorms in the far east and snow on Alpine peaks above 1600 metres. The showers largely clearing after dark. Cool to mild and mostly cloudy with generally light winds tending moderate east to northeasterly near the Gippsland coast.Sunday 15 SeptemberIsolated showers clearing from the southeast during the morning. Areas of rain developing in the northwest by the afternoon then gradually extending across the western half of the State during the remainder of the afternoon and evening. A mild day with cloud increasing and moderate northeasterly wind.Monday 16 SeptemberRain extending southeastwards, clearing from the northwest later. Moderate to fresh northeast to northerly winds shifting westerly in the west.Tuesday 17 SeptemberRain areas in the east, clearing later. Scattered showers developing over remaining districts, contracting eastwards later. Moderate westerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Saturday.Product IDV10310
