Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 12/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weak high pressure ridge lies over western New South Wales with a trough and cooler southerly change lies across the southern coast. The next trough is forecast to approach the western border overnight Thursday into Friday, with patchy rain developing ahead of the trough. This system should move through central and eastern districts during Friday and Saturday although most of the rainfall will be nearer southern border. Following this, there is expected to be a brief clearing before another cold front arrives later on Sunday or in the new week.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayPatchy rain developing in the far west, increasing in the southwest later. Possible late thunder near the South Australian border. Isolated showers in the southeast, extending along the coast to Sydney tonight. The chance of a thunderstorm along the south coast. Fine elsewhere. Southwest to southeasterly winds in the east, and north to northeasterly winds in the west. Fresh to strong southerly change along southern and central parts of the coast later.Friday 13 SeptemberMorning frost on the southern ranges. Patchy morning fog on the northern coast. Rain areas across the south, with local thunder west of the Divide, easing to showers in the far west during the day. Isolated showers across the north, increasing in the northeast during the afternoon with the chance of thunderstorms about the tablelands, and clearing in the far west. Southeast to northeasterly winds, with a westerly change extending through western and central districts.Saturday 14 SeptemberMorning fog in the southern inland and on the northern coast and ranges. Isolated showers in the east of the state. Northwest to southwesterly winds extending across most districts, although remaining northeast to southeasterly along parts of the coast.Sunday 15 SeptemberIsolated morning showers for southern parts of the coast. Patchy rain in the far west, and the chance of late showers in central and southeastern districts. Fine in the northeast. Northeast to southeasterly winds.Monday 16 SeptemberRain areas over the central inland, extending further east during the day and clearing from the west in the afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms with and ahead of the trough over the inland, as well as the chance of a thunderstorm over the far northeast of the state. East to northeast winds, tending westerly from the west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Friday.Product IDN10031
