Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 11/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A ridge of high pressure over the eastern states and western Bass Strait is slowly moving eastwards to be over the Tasman Sea at the weekend. A trough over western parts of the State will move slowly eastwards today and on Friday. A low pressure system will develop over the Bight on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayCloud increasing from the west with isolated showers and possible thunder extending southeastwards. Isolated showers reaching the Lower South East in the evening. Showers and thunder increasing to areas of rain and possible thunder during the afternoon or evening over areas south of about Ceduna to Yunta, except in the south of the Lower South East district. Mild in the south grading to hot in the north. Winds increasing to moderate to fresh northeast to northwesterly during the day, ahead of a fresh west to southwesterly change in the west early morning, extending eastwards to reach central parts late evening.Friday 13 SeptemberAreas of rain and possible thunder over the agricultural area to the east of the Mount Lofty Ranges, contracting southeastwards and clearing by evening. Isolated showers to follow over the agricultural area, with the chance of thunder south of about Adelaide until evening. Cool to mild in the south, grading to warm in the far north. Light to moderate northeasterly winds in the southeast, otherwise chiefly light to moderate southwest to southerly winds.Saturday 14 SeptemberPossible isolated showers over the southern agricultural area, and also developing over areas west of Coober Pedy to Ceduna in the afternoon or evening. Chiefly light winds, turning moderate to fresh northeast to northwesterly in the west. Mild in the south grading to warm to hot in the north and west.Sunday 15 SeptemberIsolated showers and possible thunder over the Flinders and Pastoral districts, contracting southeastwards. Isolated showers over the remainder, increasing to scattered showers and possible thunder during the day, tending to areas of rain over the Murraylands and South East districts after midday. Moderate to fresh northeast to northwesterly winds, strengthening in the west and tending westerly. Generally mild, grading to warm in the northeast. Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday morning to midnight Sunday are expected to be less than 5 mm, increasing to 10 to 20 mm over the agricultural area, with possible falls of 20 to 30 mm over Kangaroo Island and the Mount Lofty Ranges and South East districts.Monday until WednesdayIsolated showers on Monday over areas south of about Tarcoola to Broken Hill, tending scattered over the southern agricultural area, with early rain in the south. Isolated showers over the agricultural area on Tuesday, contracting to the southern agricultural area on Wednesday. Cool in the south grading to warm in the far north. Moderate to fresh southwest to northwest winds, fresh to strong at times in the south.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CST Thursday.Product IDS10033
