Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 11/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A ridge of high pressure will move over western Victoria on Thursday as the tail end of a cold front crosses southeastern districts. The ridge will cross the remainder of the State later Thursday, reaching the Tasman Sea on Friday as a low pressure trough moves over northwestern Victoria. The trough will weaken on Saturday as a low pressure system deepens near the Bight. The low pressure system will then move towards western Victoria on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers over southern and mountain districts. Isolated showers clearing over the northern plains. Showers falling as snow above 1300 metres. Moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds.Thursday 12 SeptemberMorning fog patches in the north. Scattered showers over southern and mountain areas becoming isolated during the morning before contracting to Gippsland during the afternoon. Local small hail in the southeast. Patchy rain developing over the northwest later in the day or at night. A cool and partly cloudy day with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds tending east to southeasterly in the afternoon and evening.Friday 13 SeptemberAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms extending southeastwards during the day. Rain tending to isolated showers in the northwest during the afternoon. Cool and mostly cloudy with light to moderate northeasterly winds, fresh near the coast.Saturday 14 SeptemberScattered showers in southern and eastern areas. Isolated showers possible elsewhere. Cool to mild and mostly cloudy with generally light winds tending fresh east to northeasterly near the Gippsland coast.Sunday 15 SeptemberIsolated showers clearing from the southeast during the morning. Areas of rain developing in the northwest during the morning before extending southeastwards during the day. A cool to mild and mostly cloudy day with a light to moderate northeasterly wind.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Thursday.Product IDV10310
