Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 11/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weak high is centred over western New South Wales, while a cold front passes to the south. This high will drift toward the northeast during Thursday as a trough brings a cooler southerly change to the coast. Another high will strengthen to the west of Tasmania during this time, extending a ridge north into New South Wales later in the day. The next trough is forecast to approach the western border overnight Thursday into Friday, with some patchy rain developing ahead of it. This system should move through central and eastern districts during Friday, although most of the rainfall will be nearer southern border. Following this, there is expected to be a brief clearing before a cold front arrives early in the new week.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayThe chance of showers in the far south, chiefly about alpine areas, falling as snow about the peaks. Otherwise fine. West to southwesterly winds inland, and southwest to southeasterly winds near the coast.Thursday 12 SeptemberPatchy rain developing in the far west, increasing near the Victorian border later. Isolated showers in the southeast, extending along the coast towards Sydney in the evening. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southwest to southeasterly winds in the east, and north to northeasterly winds in the west.Fire Danger -  Very High: Northern Rivers.Friday 13 SeptemberRain areas across the south, with local thunder west of the Divide, easing to showers in the far west during the day. Isolated showers across the north, increasing in the northeast during the afternoon with the chance of thunderstorms about the tablelands, and clearing in the far west. Southeast to northeasterly winds, with a westerly change extending through western and central districts.Saturday 14 SeptemberIsolated showers in the east of the state. Northwest to southwesterly winds extending across most districts, although remaining northeast to southeasterly along parts of the coast.Sunday 15 SeptemberPatchy rain in the far west, and the chance of late showers in central and southeastern districts.
