MELBOURNE - Sep 10/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation The tail end of a cold front will move across southern Victoria this morning. A ridge of high pressure will move over western Victoria on Thursday as the tail of another cold front crosses southeastern districts. The ridge will cross the remainder of the State later Thursday, reaching the Tasman Sea on Friday as a low pressure trough moves over northwestern Victoria. The trough will weaken as it moves to central parts of the State on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayScattered showers over southern and mountain districts and isolated showers developing on the northern plains. Showers falling as snow above 1200 metres and small hail possible near the central coast. Cool to cold and partly cloudy with moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds, locally strong along the coastal fringe. Winds tending west to southwesterly during the day.Thursday 12 SeptemberMorning fog and frost patches in the north and west. Isolated showers over southern and eastern areas contracting to Gippsland during the morning then clearing in the afternoon. Isolated showers developing in the west later in the afternoon and evening. A cool and partly cloudy day with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds tending east to southeasterly in the afternoon and evening.Friday 13 SeptemberIsolated showers extending eastwards during the day and tending to areas of rain from the west. The chance of isolated thunderstorms extending to eastern areas. Cool to mild and mostly cloudy with mainly moderate east to northeasterly winds.Saturday 14 SeptemberRain areas in the east clearing during the morning. Isolated showers to follow, mainly over southern and mountain areas and contracting to the coast and far east at night.
