MELBOURNE - Sep 9/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cooler westerly airstream will become established over Victoria on Tuesday and will be reinforced early Wednesday with the passage of a cold front over southern Victoria. A high pressure ridge is expected to move over Victoria on Thursday. The ridge will move into the Tasman Sea on Friday as a low pressure trough approaches western Victoria. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers over southern and mountain districts, scattered near the coast and ranges with isolated showers possible over the northern plains. Isolated thunderstorms possible near the coast during the day. Snowfalls down to 1300 metres. A cool and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly wind, stronger near the coast.Wednesday 11 SeptemberScattered showers over southern and mountain districts and isolated showers developing on the northern plains. Snowfalls in Alpine regions above 1200 metres. Cool to cold with a moderate to fresh west to southwesterly wind, strong at times about the coast.Thursday 12 SeptemberIsolated showers over southern areas clearing during the morning but isolated showers developing in the far west later in the afternoon and evening. Morning fog and frost patches in the north and west then a cool and partly cloudy day with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds tending northeasterly from the west.Friday 13 SeptemberIsolated showers extending eastwards during the day and tending to rain over mainly western and northern areas. Possible thunderstorms over the southwest.
