Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 7/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weak cold front clipped the Victorian coast Saturday afternoon but will move away to the east tonight. A small high pressure system will rapidly cross southern Victoria on Sunday. A low pressure system will develop over Bight waters on Sunday then move southeastwards passing southern Tasmania on Monday night. An associated cold front will move through Victoria later on Monday and during Tuesday morning. A cool west to southwesterly airstream will be reinforced early Wednesday by another cold front clipping southern Victoria.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers in the south, clearing during the evening. Cool with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds easing rapidly.Sunday 8 SeptemberLocal early frost and fog patches inland. Isolated showers possible over the southwest in the afternoon and evening but fine elsewhere. A cool to mild day, though warmer in the northwest. Light winds.Monday 9 SeptemberA generally dry morning with only isolated showers in the southwest and a warm northerly wind strengthening over southern an elevated areas. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms developing over southern and mountain districts later in the afternoon ahead of a cooler gusty westerly change. Showers increasing about the southwest coast and the northeast highlands in the evening.Tuesday 10 SeptemberScattered showers in southern and mountain districts. The chance of thunderstorms in the south later in the day. Mostly fine over the northern plains with isolated showers possible. Snowfalls developing down to 1300 metres on the ranges. Cool with a moderate to fresh west to southwesterly wind, strong about the coast.Wednesday 11 SeptemberScattered showers in southern and mountain districts and isolated showers developing on the northern plains. Snowfalls in Alpine regions above 1200 metres. Cool to cold with a moderate to fresh west to southwesterly wind, strong at times about the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Sunday.Product IDV10310
