MELBOURNE - Sep 4/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A slow moving high pressure system is located over the Tasman Sea. A weakening cold front will cross Victoria today whilst a high pressure system develops over the Bight. This high will extend a ridge across northern Victoria on Friday. Another cold front will move across southern Victoria early Saturday, with the high to then reach Victoria on Saturday night. A low pressure system will then reach the Bight on Sunday and weaken as it moves slowly eastwards. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayPatchy rain extending eastwards across the State during the day. Isolated showers to follow, clearing over the southwest during the afternoon and evening. Moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds in the east, turning cooler west to southwesterly from the west .Friday 6 SeptemberPatchy rain over the north and east gradually clearing from the south. Isolated showers developing over the southwest in the afternoon and evening, mainly near the coast. A cool to mild day with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds, fresh over elevated areas and near the coast.Saturday 7 SeptemberPatchy rain in the far north clearing during the early morning. Isolated showers over southern and mountain districts, contracting to the coast and clearing later. A cool to mild day with moderate west to southwesterly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Sunday 8 SeptemberIsolated showers clearing East Gippsland early in the morning. Patchy rain developing over the northwest during the morning, extending to southwestern and central districts during the afternoon.
