MELBOURNE - Sep 4/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is located over the Tasman Sea, where it will move slowly northwards and weaken over the next few days. A cold front will reach far southwestern Victoria tonight and will weaken as it crosses the State on Thursday. The next high pressure system will move into the Bight on Thursday and extend a ridge across northern Victoria later Thirsday and Friday. Another cold front will move over southern Victoria and Bass Strait early Saturday, allowing the high over the Bight to move across southern Victoria on Saturday. A low pressure system looks set to move across the Bight on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers developing over the southwest, otherwise dry with moderate to fresh northerly winds.Thursday 5 SeptemberPatchy rain extending across the State with isolated showers to follow. Showers clearing over the southwest in the afternoon and evening. Moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds turning cooler west to southwesterly over the west during the morning, gradually extending to the east by late afternoon.Friday 6 SeptemberPatchy rain over the north and east gradually clearing from the south. Isolated showers developing over the southwest in the afternoon and evening, mainly near the coast. A cool to mild day with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds, fresh about elevated areas and the coastal fringe.Saturday 7 SeptemberPatchy rain clearing from the far north early in the morning. Isolated showers over southern and mountain districts, contracting to the coast and clearing later. A cool to mild day with moderate west to southwesterly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Sunday 8 SeptemberIsolated showers clearing East Gippsland early in the morning. Patchy rain developing over the northwest during the morning, extending to southwestern and central districts in the afternoon, possibly reaching eastern districts in the evening.
