Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 29/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system south of Port Lincoln is moving southeastwards and will be centred west of Tasmania late this evening. An associated low pressure trough will continue to move over the remainder of the State today. Another weakening trough will move over the west and south of the State on Friday and Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms over agricultural areas, possibly extending over the southern Pastoral districts, contracting to the south by the evening. Showers increasing to scattered over the southern agricultural area, contracting southwards during the afternoon, easing to isolated showers late evening. Mild in the south, grading to hot in the northeast. Fresh to strong and gusty northeast to northwesterly winds, ahead of a fresh and gusty northwest to southwesterly change in the west extending throughout by mid afternoon, then easing in the evening.Friday 30 AugustPossible isolated morning showers over the southern coastal districts, contracting to the Lower South East in the afternoon, more likely about southern coast. Possible isolated showers about the West Coast, Flinders and southern Pastoral districts. Mild in the south, grading to hot in the far north. Light to moderate northeast to northwest winds, freshening in the west and becoming strong in the far northwest, with areas of raised dust during the afternoon.Saturday 31 AugustFine, apart from possible light showers about the Flinders and Northeast Pastoral districts. Warm in the south, grading to very hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh north to northwest winds, with areas of raised dust in the northeast.Sunday 1 SeptemberFine. Warm in the south grading to hot in the north. Light to moderate west to northwesterly winds, fresh in the south.Monday 2 SeptemberPossible isolated showers in the far west of the state. Warm in the south, grading to hot to very hot in the north. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, becoming moderate to fresh northeast to northerly in the west. Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday afternoon to midnight Monday are expected to be generally 2 to 5 mm about the southern agricultural area , increasing to 5 to 10 mm about southern coasts, in the South East District and about the ranges. Less than 2 mm possible elsewhere.Tuesday until ThursdayPossible isolated showers about the far west and south on Tuesday, gradually extending north to be south of Cleve to Lameroo on Wednesday and Thursday. Warm to hot in the south, grading to very hot in the far north. Generally moderate northerly winds, ahead of a southwesterly change moving through the state on Wednesday and Thursday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Friday.Product IDS10033
