Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 28/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the western Tasman Sea extends a ridge towards the northern New South Wales coast, while a low pressure trough approaches the state's west. This trough will move through western districts later today, then weaken as it reaches the coast during Friday. Following this, another high is expected to develop across the region during the weekend, and should remain the dominant feature into the new week.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayThe chance of showers across southern and central districts, more likely near the Victorian border. Showers becoming scattered later in the afternoon about the Riverina and southern ranges, with the chance of thunderstorms. Morning fog patches in the northeast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. A warm day in most areas, with northerly winds becoming fresh to strong and gusty over the western inland, and along the southern coast. A late westerly change in the west.Friday 30 AugustThe chance of showers in the east, mainly about the southern slopes, clearing during the day. Otherwise fine and mostly sunny. A west to southwesterly change extending throughout.Saturday 31 AugustPossible showers across southern and central districts. Fine and partly cloudy in the north. Very warm to hot in the northwest. Northwesterly winds in the west, southeast to northeasterly winds along the coast.Sunday 1 SeptemberFine and sunny throughout. Wind light and variable, becoming east to northeasterly along the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Thursday.Product IDN10031
