MELBOURNE - Aug 28/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system will become established over the Tasman Sea tonight. A low pressure system and associated trough which will move over western Victoria on Thursday before moving away to the east on Friday. Another weak low pressure trough will drift southeastwards across the State on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine apart from isolated showers and possible thunderstorms in the east and South West and Central districts, gradually contracting southeastwards. The chance of isolated showers in the northwest tonight. Partly cloudy with light to moderate north to northeasterly winds, fresh near the coast.Thursday 29 AugustMorning fog patches in the east. Isolated showers, becoming scattered in central and northeastern areas during the afternoon. Isolated thunderstorms possible during the afternoon and evening. A mild to warm and partly cloudy day with strengthening northeast to northerly winds, reaching gale force about elevated areas during the day. Winds shifting west to northwesterly from the west later in the day.Friday 30 AugustIsolated showers in southern and eastern areas contracting southwards and clearing later. The chance of a clearing thunderstorm in the far southeast. A mild to warm day with a light to moderate northwesterly wind and afternoon coastal seabreezes in Gippsland.Saturday 31 AugustFine apart from morning fog patches in the north and east and the chance of isolated showers in the far northwest during the morning.
