Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 25/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system moving slowly over southern NSW will reach the Tasman Sea on Monday. The tail end of a cold front crossed Tasmania on Sunday. A low pressure trough will cross the Bight on Monday then weaken as it moves through Bass Strait between late Tuesday and Wednesday morning. The next high pressure system will extend a ridge across Tasmania on Wednesday as a low pressure system develops over South Australia. This low pressure system and associated trough will move into western Victoria late on Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayPatchy drizzle about the dividing range and over the southwest. Mostly dry elsewhere. Mostly cloudy with light northwesterly winds, moderate about elevated areas and near the coast.Monday 26 AugustAreas of morning fog in the north. Isolated drizzle over the northeast clearing in the afternoon. Dry over the remainder. A generally mild day with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds.Tuesday 27 AugustAreas of morning fog over the northeast. Morning showers possible about the south Gippsland coast and isolated showers developing in the west late in the day. Otherwise a mild and partly cloudy day with light to moderate northerly winds tending east to southeasterly in the southwest.Wednesday 28 AugustIsolated showers over most districts, tending to scattered about the northeast ranges. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms in the north. A mild and partly cloudy day with moderate northeast to easterly winds.Thursday 29 AugustIsolated showers developing in most districts, more scattered in the north and northeast, where afternoon thunderstorms are possible. A mild and partly cloudy day with moderate northeasterly winds, shifting westerly in the west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Monday.Product IDV10310
