MELBOURNE - Aug 23/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is developing over the Bight and will move over southern NSW during the weekend. The high will continue to move slowly eastwards, reaching the Tasman Sea on Monday whilst a low pressure trough moves over the Bight, and approaches western Victoria on Tuesday. Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers over southern and mountain areas, scattered near the Gippsland and Central coasts and falling as snow above 1600 metres. Mostly cloudy with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong at times along the Gippsland coast.Saturday 24 AugustIsolated showers near and south of the ranges tending to clear during the afternoon and evening. Morning fog patches, mainly north of the ranges. A cool to mild and mostly cloudy day with light to moderate west to southwesterly wind tending northwesterly from the west during the afternoon.Sunday 25 AugustPatchy drizzle about the dividing range and scattered showers developing about the southwest coast but mostly dry elsewhere. Morning fog patches in the north and east. A cool to mild and mostly cloudy day with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds.Monday 26 AugustMorning fog patches about the ranges. Isolated showers over southern and mountain districts, falling as snow on the Alpine peaks. Dry over the northern plains. A generally mild day with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds.Tuesday 27 AugustFine apart from possible morning showers about the Gippsland coast and isolated showers developing in the west at night.
