USDA National Grain Review

ST. JOSEPH - Aug 23/13 - SNS -- The USDA issued its latest weekly national grain market review, covering the period through Aug 23.

WEEKLY NATIONAL GRAIN MARKET REVIEW
   Compared to last week, grain and soybean bids closed mixed.  Corn and
soybeans saw support from hot temperatures and no rain in parts of the Midwest.
The western corn-belt is in need of moisture, while the eastern is in better
shape.  Additional support for soybeans also came from tight supplies and good
demand.  However, corn yield estimates from the Pro-Farmer tour remain for the
most part higher than expected which limited the gains.  Corn had weekly exports
sales totaling 492,600 tonnes with 58,200 tonnes for 2012-2013.  Soybeans had
bullish export sales totaling 946,900 tonnes with 20,900 tonnes for 2012-2013.
Wheat had bullish export sales of 494,000 tonnes.  Wheat was mostly 2-7 cents
lower with Minneapolis trading 40-62 cents lower.  Corn was 5-23 cents higher.
Sorghum was 13-36 cents lower.  Soybeans were 1-47 cents higher.
   WHEAT:  Kansas City US No 1 Hard Red Winter, ordinary protein rail bid was
3/4 to 3 3/4 cents lower from 7.84 1/4-8.40 1/4 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2
Soft Red winter rail bid was not quoted.  St. Louis truck US No 2 Soft Red
Winter terminal bid was 7 cents lower at 6.20 per bushel.  Minneapolis and
Duluth US No 1 Dark Northern Spring, 14.0 to 14.5 percent protein rail, was 40
1/4 to 62 1/4 cents lower from 7.89 1/4-7.97 1/4 per bushel.  Portland US Soft
White wheat rail was 2 to 4 1/2 cents lower from 7.15 1/2-7.30 1/2 per bushel.
   CORN:  Kansas City US No 2 rail White Corn was 13 to 23 cents higher from
5.32-5.43 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 11 to 16 cents
higher at 5.73 per bushel.  Omaha US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 18 cents higher
from 6.18-6.25 per bushel.  Chicago US No 2 Yellow Corn was 6 to 21 cents higher
from 5.47 1/2-6.52 1/2 per bushel.  Toledo US No 2 rail Yellow corn was 21 to 36
cents higher from 6.07 1/2-6.22 1/2 per bushel.  Minneapolis US No 2 Yellow corn
rail was 5 cents higher at 5.91 1/2 per bushel.
   OATS AND BARLEY:  US 2 or Better oats, rail bid to arrive at Minneapolis 20
day was 50 1/4 cents lower from 3.52 1/2-3.67 1/2 per bushel.  US No 3 or better
rail malting Barley, 70 percent or better plump out of Minneapolis was 75 cents
lower at 5.40 per bushel.  Portland US 2 Barley, unit trains and Barges-export
was not available.
   SORGHUM:  US No 2 yellow truck, Kansas City was 13 cents lower at 8.30 per
cwt.  Texas High Plains US No 2 yellow sorghum (prices paid or bid to the
farmer, fob elevator) was 36 cents lower at 9.60 per cwt.
   OILSEEDS:  Minneapolis Yellow truck soybeans were 47 1/4 cents higher at
13.41 3/4 per bushel.  Illinois Processors US No 1 Yellow truck soybeans were 1
1/4 cent higher from 14.26 3/4-14.46 3/4 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2 Yellow
truck soybeans were 6 cents higher at 14.37 per bushel.  Central Illinois 48
percent Soybean meal, processor rail bid was 50 cents lower from 449.30-451.30
per ton.  Central Illinois Crude Soybean oil processor bid was 74 to 99 points
lower from 40.83-42.68 cents per pound.
