MELBOURNE - Aug 23/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front over eastern Victoria will move away to the east this morning. A high pressure system will develop over the head of the Bight later today and will move over southern NSW late Saturday and during Sunday. The high will move slowly eastwards towards the Tasman Sea on Monday as the next low pressure trough moves over the Bight. Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers, more widespread near the central coast and eastern ranges, but only isolated showers over the northwest. Snowfalls above 1400 metres at first, rising to 1700 metres. A cool and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong at times along parts of the coast and about Alpine areas.Saturday 24 AugustIsolated showers near and south of the ranges tending to clear during the afternoon and evening. Morning fog patches, mainly north of the ranges. A cool to mild and mostly cloudy day with light west to southwesterly winds tending northwesterly from the west.Sunday 25 AugustPatchy drizzle about the dividing range and scattered showers developing about the southwest coast but mostly dry elsewhere. Morning fog patches in the north and east. A cool to mild day with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds.Monday 26 AugustMorning fog patches about the ranges. Scattered showers about the coast. Isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain districts, falling as snow on the Alpine peaks. Dry over the northern plains.
