Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 22/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front embedded in a westerly airflow will cross Victoria tonight and early Friday. The next high pressure system will develop over the head of the Bight late Friday and will move over southern NSW late Saturday and during Sunday. The high will move slowly eastwards towards the Tasman Sea on Monday as the next low pressure trough moves over the Bight.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayShowers in southern and mountain areas, more widespread over the southwest and over the eastern ranges. Only isolated showers over the far northwest and far southeast. Isolated thunderstorms near the coast contracting eastwards. Snowfalls above 1100 metres. Moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds, strong at times about the eastern ranges and near the coast.Friday 23 AugustScattered showers, more widespread near the central coast and eastern ranges. Only isolated showers over the northwest. Snowfalls above 1400 metres at first, rising to 1700 metres. A cool and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong at times along parts of the coast and about Alpine areas.Saturday 24 AugustIsolated showers near and south of the ranges tending to clear during the afternoon and evening. Morning fog patches, mainly north of the ranges. A cool to mild and mostly cloudy day with light west to southwesterly winds tending northwesterly from the west.Sunday 25 AugustPatchy drizzle about the dividing range and scattered showers developing about the southwest coast but mostly dry elsewhere. Morning fog patches in the north and east. A cool to mild day with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds.Monday 26 AugustMorning fog patches about the ranges. Scattered showers about the coast. Isolated showers over remaining southern and mountain districts, falling as snow on the Alpine peaks. Dry over the northern plains. A generally mild day with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Friday.Product IDV10310
