MELBOURNE - Aug 22/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A vigorous west to southwest airstream prevails over the south of the state, easing during Friday. A high near Perth will move eastwards to be over South Australia on Saturday. A trough will move across from the west early next week. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers about the agricultural area and south of the pastoral districts, scattered at times about the southern agricultural area. Moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong at times about southern coasts.Friday 23 AugustIsolated showers over the agricultural area and far south of the pastoral districts, scattered over the Mount Lofty Ranges and the Lower South East in the morning, contracting southwards to the southern agricultural area in the evening. Isolated early fog in the pastoral districts. Cool in the south grading to mild in the north and west. Moderate to fresh west to southwest winds, tending light to moderate south to southwest in the north.Saturday 24 AugustMorning fog patches. Isolated showers about the southern agricultural area. Cool to mild in the south, grading to warm in the far northeast. Light and variable winds.Sunday 25 AugustIsolated early frost about the Flinders, Mid North, Riverland and far south of the Pastoral districts. Fine apart from isolated showers about Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East coast contracting to the Lower south East during the day.. Cool to mild in the south grading to mild to warm in the north and west. Light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds.Monday 26 AugustIsolated showers over the Lower South East clearing during the afternoon. Possible isolated showers developing in the west. Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday afternoon to midnight Monday are expected to be 2 to 5 mm over the southern agricultural area, reaching 5 to 10 mm about the southern Mount Lofty Ranges and Lower South East coast with possible isolated falls of up to 15 mm about the Mt Lofty Ranges. Less than 2 mm elsewhere.Tuesday until ThursdayPossible light showers south of about Woomera on Tuesday clearing to the east during the day. Possible isolated showers developing in the west on Wednesday, becoming more likely on Thursday and extending over the agricultural area.
