MELBOURNE - Aug 22/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A broad low pressure system will drift south of Tasmania today deepening as it moves over the southern Tasman Sea on Friday. A series of frontal systems associated with this broad low are expected to pass over the southern parts of NSW before moving away to the east on the weekend. Otherwise a weak high pressure ridge extends over the far northern parts of NSW, forming a weak high over the Queensland coast late on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers over the southern half of the state tending scattered over the southeastern inland. Showers are expected to tend widespread over the western slopes during the afternoon. Showers falling as snow above 1000 metres. Morning frosty areas, extensive over the northern ranges, slopes and plains. Partly cloudy elsewhere. West to northwesterly winds, windy in the southeast.Friday 23 AugustIsolated showers over the southern and central inland tending scattered in the far southeast. Showers are expected to ease during the afternoon. Showers falling as snow above 1300 metres. Morning frosty areas. Partly cloudy elsewhere. West to southwesterly winds, windy in the southeast. Winds tend southwesterly in the afternoon.Saturday 24 AugustIsolated morning showers about the western slopes and far south coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. West to southwesterly winds, windy on the coast.Sunday 25 AugustFine and mostly sunny. Morning frost and fog about the ranges and plains.
