MELBOURNE - Aug 21/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front will reach southwest Victoria tonight before sweeping through the remainder of the State on Thursday morning. Another front is likely to follow across southern Victoria early Friday as the next high pressure system develops over the head of the Bight. This high pressure system will move over southern NSW on Saturday, then to the Tasman Sea later Sunday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayRain areas in the southwest, extending to central parts tonight. Isolated showers elsewhere, mainly about the ranges. Isolated thunderstorms near the central and west coasts. Snowfalls above 1000 metres. Moderate to fresh northwesterly winds.Thursday 22 AugustScattered showers, becoming more widespread near the central and western coasts and the eastern ranges. Only isolated showers over the northwest. Isolated thunderstorms possible near the coast. Snowfalls above 1100 metres. A cool and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds, strong at times about the eastern ranges and near the coast.Friday 23 AugustScattered showers, more widespread near the central coast and eastern ranges. Only isolated showers over the northwest. Snowfalls above 1300 metres. A cool and mostly cloudy day with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong at times along parts of the coast.Saturday 24 AugustIsolated showers near and south of the ranges clearing during the afternoon and evening. Showers falling as snow above 1500 metres. Morning fog patches, mainly near the ranges. A cool to mild and mostly cloudy day with light west to southwesterly winds tending northwesterly from the west.Sunday 25 AugustIsolated showers about the ranges and in the southwest. Morning fog patches in the north and east.
