Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 18/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
An intense low pressure system south of Tasmania will move southeast and weaken. A high pressure system over southern WA will move into the Bight today and extend a ridge of high pressure over the north of the State. A strong cold front will move over southern South Australia on Wednesday forcing the high to retreat to Western Australia. This high will again move eastwards over South Australia late in the week.
Forecast for the rest of MondayScattered showers over the southern agricultural area contracting to the southeast for the afternoon and evening. Isolated showers over the rest of the agricultural area and south of the Pastoral districts easing and contracting southward during the day. Possible small hail south of about Clare, contracting southeastwards late afternoon. Possible thunderstorms about the Lower South East until just after sunrise. Cold in the south and about the ranges, grading to mild in the far north. Moderate to fresh southeast to southwest winds, tending to mainly light winds in the west.Tuesday 20 AugustThe chance of isolated showers over the agricultural area and western coasts. Cold in the south and about the ranges, cool over the remainder. Light to moderate southwest to southeast winds.Wednesday 21 AugustIsolated showers extending over the agricultural area and south of the Pastoral districts, increasing to scattered showers from the west over the southern agricultural area during the afternoon or evening. Northwest to southwest winds, freshening in the south, ahead of a southwest to southerly change developing in the west and south late afternoon or evening. Cold in the south and about the ranges, cool to mild over the remainder.Thursday 22 AugustIsolated showers over the agricultural area and south of the Pastoral districts, scattered over the southern agricultural area in the morning. Cool to cold in the south and about the ranges grading to mild in the far north. Light to moderate southwest to southeast winds, fresh near southern coasts. Cumulative rainfall totals from Monday morning to midnight Thursday are expected to be 1 to 5 mm over the northern agricultural area, West Coast and south of the Pastoral districts, increasing to 5 to 15 mm over the southern agricultural area, reaching 20 to 30 mm about the southern Mount Lofty Ranges and Lower South East district.Friday until SundayIsolated showers over the agricultural area and south of the Pastoral districts, scattered over the southern agricultural area Friday morning, contracting southwards to the southern agricultural area on Saturday and to southern coasts on Sunday, then clearing by evening. Cool in the south grading to mild in the north and west. Light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, fresh near southern coasts, turning light northerly from the west on Saturday to be throughout on Sunday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CST Monday.Product IDS10033
