Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 18/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A deep low pressure system to the south of Adelaide will pass just to the south of Tasmania tonight. The low will move further southwards on Monday as a ridge of high pressure develops over the Bight. The ridge of high pressure will move across northwest Victoria late Tuesday. A cold front will reach southwest Victoria on Wednesday night before sweeping through the remainder of the State Thursday morning.
Forecast for the rest of SundayScattered showers in southern and mountain areas with isolated showers over the northern plains. Snow above 1500 metres lowering to 1000 metres over the far west at night. Possible hail and thunder, mainly in the southwest. Fresh to strong and gusty northwesterly winds, reaching gale force at times over southern mountain districts.Monday 19 AugustScattered showers over southern and mountain districts, widespread near the coast. Isolated showers over the northern plains. Snow showers above 500 metres. Local hail and thunder possible in the south and east. A cold day with moderate to fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong to gale force near the coast.Tuesday 20 AugustScattered showers over southern and mountain districts, isolated over the northern plains and falling as snow above 600 metres. Local hail in the east gradually clearing during the afternoon. A cool to cold day with a moderating west to southwesterly wind.Wednesday 21 AugustIsolated showers, mainly about the ranges and near the coast, falling as snow above 1000 metres. Showers increasing over the southwest late in the day. Early morning frost inland then a generally cool day with north to northwesterly winds freshening from the west.Thursday 22 AugustScattered showers in southern and mountain areas. Isolated showers over the northern plains. Snow above 1100 metres. A cool day with moderate westerly winds, fresh to strong in the south.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Monday.Product IDV10310
