Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 17/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
An intense low pressure system will move eastwards to the south of the State on Sunday, to be positioned south of Tasmania on Monday. A cold front will move over the agricultural area on Sunday. Another cold front will traverse southern coasts of SA later Wednesday. A high west of Western Australia extends a ridge across northern parts of the state, with a high pressure cell expected to form over the Bight on Monday before moving eastwards to be over NSW on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers about the southern agricultural area tending scattered near southern coasts. Possible isolated thunderstorms near southern coasts. Cool to cold with moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast.Sunday 18 AugustIsolated showers about the West Coast district and agricultural area. Showers increasing to scattered from the south during the morning over the southern agricultural area, then easing to isolated again by evening. Possible isolated thunderstorms in the Lower South East early morning and late evening. Possible small hail developing south of about Adelaide during the day. Cold in the south and about the ranges, grading to mild in the far north. Moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds, strong to gale force about southern coasts.Monday 19 AugustIsolated showers over the agricultural area, scattered over the southern agricultural area till evening. Possible small hail south of about Adelaide, contracting southwards late afternoon. Possible early thunderstorms in the Lower South East. Cold in the south and about the ranges, grading to mild in the far north. Moderate to fresh southeast to southwest winds, tending to mainly light winds in the west.Tuesday 20 AugustIsolated showers over the agricultural area. Cold in the south and about the ranges, cool over the remainder. Light to moderate southwest to southeast winds.Wednesday 21 AugustIsolated showers over the agricultural area, increasing to scattered showers from the west over the southern agricultural area during the afternoon or evening. Northwest to southwest winds, freshening in the south, ahead of a southwest to southerly change near southern and western coasts late evening, Cold in the south and about the ranges, cool to mild over the remainder. Cumulative rainfall totals from Saturday afternoon to midnight Wednesday are expected to be 2 to 10 mm over the northern agricultural area, increasing to 10 to 30 mm over the southern agricultural area, reaching 30 to 60 mm about the Mount Lofty Ranges and Lower South East district with isolated falls of up to 80 mm possible about the southern Mount Lofty Ranges. Less than 2 mm is expected about the remainder of the West Coast and the south of the Pastoral districts.Thursday until SaturdayIsolated showers over the agricultural area and south of the Pastoral districts, contracting to the southern agricultural area on Saturday. Showers scattered over the southern agricultural area on Thursday and Friday morning. Cool to cold in the south grading to mild in the far north. Light to moderate southwest to southeast winds, moderate to fresh near southern coasts, turning northeast to northwesterly during Saturday.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Sunday.Product IDS10033
