Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 16/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the western Tasman Sea is moving east and weakening. A cold front currently approaching NSW will cross southern and central parts of NSW tomorrow and gradually weaken, northwesterly winds will strengthen ahead of this system before turning westerly and easing. A weak ridge is expected to lie over northern NSW on Sunday with a second cold front to reach the southern inland later, then cross remaining southern and central districts on Monday with cold southwesterly winds to follow. A high pressure ridge is likely to develop across the state Tuesday and Wednesday promoting generally fine, cool days and cold nights.
Forecast for the rest of FridayLight patchy rain developing in the west this evening. Mostly clear in the east. Northwest to northeast winds, fresh to strong in the west and south, and reaching gale force about the southern ranges. Westerly change in the far southwest tonight.Saturday 17 AugustRain areas and possible thunderstorms over the northeast. Isolated showers about most remaining eastern districts, contracting to the western slopes of the far southern ranges during the morning. Generally fine and mostly sunny over the western half apart from isolated showers in the northwest early and near the Victorian border late in the day. Snow showers on the Alps above about 1200m. Fresh to strong north to northwesterly winds, locally gale force about the southern ranges early, ahead of a westerly change through southern and central parts.Sunday 18 AugustIsolated showers in the southern inland with snow showers on the Alps above 1500 metres. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Early frost patches about the ranges. Winds west to northwesterly.Monday 19 AugustIsolated showers about the southeastern inland, tending scattered on the Alps with snow showers above 1000m. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Northwesterly winds tending colder, fresh to strong southwesterly.Tuesday 20 AugustIsolated showers about the western slopes of the southern ranges with snow on the Alps. Fine remainder.
