MELBOURNE - Aug 15/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure ridge over New South Wales is weakening and a cold front will move through the southwestern half of the state tonight and through the northeast during Saturday. Behind the front, another weak ridge will develop across the northern parts of the state on Sunday and a series of cold fronts associated with a deep low moving near Tasmania is expected to cross the south of the state over the following next days. Forecast for the rest of FridayLight patchy rain developing in the west later in the day. Mostly sunny in the east. Northwest to northeast winds, freshening in the far west.Saturday 17 AugustPartly cloudy in the far west. Patchy rain elsewhere tending to rain ares about the western slopes of the ranges. Snow developing on the Alps above about 1300m in the evening. The chance of afternoon thunderstorms in the northeast. North to northwesterly winds ahead of a gusty west to southwesterly change.Sunday 18 AugustIsolated showers in the southern inland with snow showers on the Alps above 1500 metres. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Winds west to northwesterly.Monday 19 AugustIsolated showers about the southeastern inland, tending scattered on the Alps with snow showers above 1000m. Mostly sunny elsewhere.
