MELBOURNE - Aug 14/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system lies to the east of Tasmania with an associated cold front and trough extending through central New South Wales. This front is expected to move further to the northeast during Thursday while a high pressure system drifts across the state, maintaining generally fine conditions until the next frontal system approaches later on Friday. Current indications are that most districts will be affected by this new front during Saturday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayThe chance of early showers over the southern and central ranges and slopes, falling as snow above 1000 metres over the southern ranges, and to 900 metres over the Alpine region. South to southwesterly winds in the east, fresh and gusty at first near the coast, tending generally light and variable in the west.Friday 16 AugustThe chance of a few late showers in the far southwest, otherwise fine and generally sunny. Warmer northeast to northwesterly winds, becoming fresh and gusty in the west.Saturday 17 AugustPatchy rain in the west early, shifting towards the east through the day and increasing about western slopes of the tablelands. The chance of afternoon thunderstorms in the northeast. North to northwesterly winds ahead of a fresh and gusty west to southwesterly change extending throughout.Sunday 18 AugustIsolated showers over the far southern part of inland NSW, tending scattered about the slopes and ranges. Fine and sunny elsewhere except for isolated showers over the far northern slopes and ranges.
