MELBOURNE - Aug 13/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A ridge of high pressure will persist over inland SA through to mid week. A series of fast moving cold fronts are expected to cross the southern half of the State early Wednesday and overnight Friday into Saturday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers about Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East, extending over the southern agricultural area late this evening. Isolated thunderstorms about southern coasts, extending to southern Kangaroo Island late this evening. Mild with light to moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, becoming strong about southern coasts and ranges .Wednesday 14 AugustIsolated showers over the West Coast, agricultural area and southern pastoral districts, increasing to scattered over the southern agricultural area during the morning. Isolated early morning thunderstorms possible along western and southern coasts with small hail about the Lower South East. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, shifting west to southwesterly during the morning. Winds fresh to strong near southern coasts.Thursday 15 AugustIsolated showers about Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East coast, chiefly during the morning. Morning frost over eastern districts. Cool to mild with generally light to moderate northeast to northerly winds.Friday 16 AugustIsolated showers developing about the West Coast and central districts during the afternoon, then extending to central and eastern parts late afternoon or evening. Showers increasing to scattered about southern coasts and ranges, with possible isolated thunderstorms. Mild to warm, hot in the far north. Fresh to strong northerly winds, ahead of a cooler moderate to fresh west to southwesterly change extending from the west during the day.Saturday 17 AugustIsolated showers about the agricultural area, West Coast and south of the pastoral districts, scattered about southern coasts. Cool to mild in the south, grading to warm in the north. Moderate to fresh northwest to southwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast. Cumulative rainfall totals from Tuesday to midnight Saturday are expected to be 5 to 10 mm over the agricultural areas, increasing to 10 to 20 mm over the southern agricultural area and reaching 20 to 30 mm about the southern Mount Lofty Ranges and the Lower South East. Less than 2 mm about the remainder of the West Coast and the southern Pastoral districts.Sunday until TuesdayIsolated showers about the West Coast district and agricultural areas and far south of the pastorals, contracting to the southern agricultural area on Tuesday.
