Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 11/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front moving rapidly across waters south of the Bight is forecast to reach the far southwest early Monday morning before sweeping across the State to the Tasman Sea by early Monday afternoon. Another rapidly moving front is likely to weaken as it crosses the southwest late Monday and remaining southern districts early Tuesday. A weak ridge will cross northern Victoria on Tuesday with the next front crossing the State on Wednesday. On Thursday another weak ridge of high pressure will cross the State.
Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers developing over the far southwest tonight. Isolated light showers also possible over the northeast, falling as snow above 1500 metres. Patchy rain developing in the far northwest. Otherwise dry with with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds.Monday 12 AugustRain areas extending across the north early in the morning and a band of rain developing over western and central districts by late morning. Rain clearing eastern districts in the afternoon. Scattered showers following the rain near and south of the ranges, mainly over the southwest in the evening. Isolated hail and thunder possible, mainly near the western and central coasts. Snow down to 900 metres. Fresh to locally strong northwesterly winds tending colder westerly during the morning.Tuesday 13 AugustScattered showers in southern and mountain districts, falling as snow above 900 metres. Showers becoming isolated by late morning and contracting to the northern slopes of the ranges and the coast. Scattered showers re-developing over the southwest at night. Cool with fresh west to northwest winds, locally strong near the coast.Wednesday 14 AugustRain areas over the southwest in the morning extending across southern and mountain districts in the afternoon, then clearing the east at night. Patchy rain possible over the northern plains in the afternoon. Isolated showers following the rain near and south of the ranges, contracting to the northeast ranges and the coast in the afternoon. Snow above 1000 metres. A cold and cloudy day over the southwest, milder elsewhere with fresh to locally strong northwesterly winds shifting cooler westerly over the west in the morning and throughout by the evening.Thursday 15 AugustIsolated showers near the coast and the northeast ranges clearing during the morning. Showers falling as snow above 1000 metres. A cool to mild and partly cloudy day with light to moderate west to northwesterly winds, locally fresh about the ranges and coastal fringe.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Monday.Product IDV10310
