MELBOURNE - Aug 10/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak ridge of high pressure across northern Victoria will move to the Tasman Sea this morning. A cold front will move rapidly eastwards across waters south of the Bight today, reaching far southwest Victoria tonight. This front will sweep across the State early Monday with another rapidly moving front to follow Monday night and Tuesday morning. A weak ridge will cross northern Victoria again on Tuesday with the next front reaching western districts Wednesday evening. Forecast for the rest of SundayMorning fog patches over the northeast. Dry over southern districts until showers reach the far southwest at night. Isolated light showers developing over northern districts during the morning, falling as snow above 1500 metres. A generally mild day with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds.Monday 12 AugustRain areas extending across western and central districts during the morning then clearing eastern districts in the afternoon. Scattered showers to follow near and south of the ranges. Isolated hail and thunder, mainly near the western and central coasts. Snow down to 900 metres. Fresh to locally strong northwesterly winds shifting to colder west to southwesterly from the west in the morning.Tuesday 13 AugustScattered showers in southern and mountain districts, falling as snow above 900 metres. Showers becoming isolated by late morning and mostly contracting to the northeast ranges and the coast. Cool with fresh to locally strong west to southwesterly winds extending throughout in the morning then tending west to northwesterly in the evening.Wednesday 14 AugustRain areas extending from the southwest in the morning, across southern and mountain districts in the afternoon, then contracting to the east at night. Isolated showers developing over the northern plains in the afternoon and the far southeast in the evening. Isolated showers also following the rain near and south of the ranges, mainly near the coast. Snow above 1500 metres.
