MELBOURNE - Aug 9/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front over southwestern Victoria will cross the remainder of the State during tonight and early Saturday morning. A weak ridge of high pressure will move over northern Victoria later Saturday and another cold front will approach southwestern Victoria Sunday night. This cold front will move through the State early Monday with another rapidly moving front crossing the State during Monday night and Tuesday morning. Forecast for the rest of FridayAreas of rain, mainly on and south of the ranges, contracting eastwards tonight with only isolated showers over the northwest. Scattered showers to follow the rain, mainly in the south. Rain falling as snow above 1700 metres. Fresh northwest to northerly winds, strong to locally gale force over southern and elevated areas.Saturday 10 AugustIsolated showers over southern and mountain districts, scattered about the northeast ranges and coast during the morning, clearing in the afternoon. Snow above 1600 metres. Cool with moderate to locally fresh westerly winds gradually easing.Sunday 11 AugustIsolated showers developing over the northern slopes during the morning. Isolated showers developing in the west during the afternoon before increasing in the far southwest at night. Snow above 1500 metres. A cool to mild day with a fresh and gusty northwesterly wind.Monday 12 AugustRain areas extending eastwards during the morning before contracting to the east later. Scattered showers to follow. Isolated hail and thunder. Snow down to 900 metres. Cool to cold with a fresh to strong northwesterly wind shifting west to southwesterly from the west in the morning.Tuesday 13 AugustScattered showers in southern and mountain districts, falling as snow above 700 metres and becoming isolated ate morning. Local hail and thunder in the south in the morning.
