Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 8/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over southern Queensland is slow moving and will gradually weaken. A series of cold fronts will move over southern coasts over the next few days, ahead of a stronger front on Monday. A new high will develop over the west of the state on Saturday and then move eastwards to be centred off the east coast later Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayThe chance of isolated showers south of about Elliston to Lameroo, tending scattered in the south of the Lower South East. Cool in the south grading to mild in the north and west with light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds, fresh near southern coasts.Friday 9 AugustIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area, scattered over the Lower South East till evening. Possible isolated showers over the remainder south of about Leigh Creek. Mild in the south grading to warm in the north with freshening north to northwesterly winds, ahead of a cooler southwesterly change in the west during the morning extending east to reach the Northeast Pastoral district late evening.Saturday 10 AugustPossible isolated showers over the agricultural area, West Coast district and the south of the Pastoral districts, chiefly morning. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the north with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds becoming light and variable during the day.Sunday 11 AugustPatchy rain extending from the west over the agricultural area, West Coast district and south of the Pastoral districts. Isolated showers and possible thunder near southern coasts. Fine over the remainder. Mild in the south grading to warm in the north with light to moderate northeast to northwesterly winds, freshening near southern and western coasts.Monday 12 AugustPatchy rain over the Flinders and south of the Pastoral districts, contracting eastwards and clearing by afternoon. Isolated showers over the agricultural areas and West Coast district. Showers scattered over the southern agricultural area till evening, with possible thunder over Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East district. Moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds, shifting cooler, fresh to strong southwesterly during the morning, easing in the evening. Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday afternoon to midnight Monday are expected to be 2 to 10 mm over the agricultural area, West Coast, Flinders and south of the Pastoral districts, increasing to 10 to 20 mm over the Mount Lofty Ranges and further to 15 to 30 mm over the Lower South East.Tuesday until ThursdayIsolated showers over the southern agricultural area, contracting to Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East for Wednesday and Thursday. Cool to mild days with mainly moderate northeast to northwesterly winds, fresh near southern coasts.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CST Friday.Product IDS10033
