Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 6/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weak cold front embedded in a westerly airflow south of the Bight will cross Victoria Wednesday as a high pressure system develops over South Australia. The high will extend a ridge southwards which will move across Victoria on Thursday. Another cold front will approach western Victoria Thursday night and will move across the State on Friday. A weak ridge of high pressure will move over northern Victoria later Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayScattered showers mostly on and south of the ranges contracting to the coast tonight and becoming isolated. Westerly winds becoming light inland overnight.Wednesday 7 AugustLocal morning fog and frost patches. Scattered showers extending from the west during the morning. Local hail thunder over the south and east. Showers falling as snow above 1000 metres. Generally cool. Moderate northwest to northerly winds developing ahead of a moderate to fresh southwesterly change extending from the western border late morning.Thursday 8 AugustShowers near the Central and Gippsland coasts clearing eastwards. Morning fog and frost patches then fine elsewhere during the day, but isolated showers extending from the western border during the evening. Cool to mild and partly cloudy with light winds tending light to moderate northwest to northerly and later freshening over the southwest.Friday 9 AugustA band of rain crossing the State with scattered showers to follow, mainly near the coast. Rain falling as snow above 1500 metres. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh northwest to northerly winds.Saturday 10 AugustIsolated showers over southern and mountain districts, scattered about the northeast ranges and falling as snow above 1500 metres. Showers tending to clear late in the day. Cool with moderate to locally fresh westerly winds gradually easing.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Wednesday.Product IDV10310
