Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 4/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over central Australia will move slowly eastwards
across Queensland, extending a broad ridge across the interior with dry air and
fine conditions across the state.
Forecast for the rest of Monday
Fine and mostly sunny across the state. Early fog areas about the central and
northern east coast and adjacent inland. Moderate southwest to southeasterly
winds, fresh at times about the northwest of the state. Afternoon northeast sea
breezes about the southern and central east coast. A cool morning over parts of
the interior with extensive areas of early frost expected in the southern and
southeast interior.
Forecast for Tuesday
A broad ridge of high pressure will remain across the state, maintaining fine
and sunny conditions over most of Queensland apart from some isolated showers
along the north tropical coast in a fresh onshore airflow. A cool morning over
the interior with extensive areas of early frost expected in the southern and
southeast interior.
Forecast for Wednesday
A surface trough will move across the south of the state as an upper trough
moves east across southeast Australia. The trough is likely to bring increasing
cloud and possible afternoon and evening showers to far southern parts of the
state. The remainder of the state should remain fine and mostly sunny with only
isolated showers about the far northeast tropical coast. Early frost is a
possibility over the southern and southeast interior but maximum temperatures
should be above average over most of the state.
Forecast for Thursday
The trough should contract offshore during Thursday with moderate to fresh
southwest to southeast winds developing across most of the state. Isolated
showers about the exposed southern coast and islands. Fine and mostly sunny
elsewhere with only isolated showers in the far northeast tropics. Early frosts
are possible about the southern interior. Maximum temperatures should fall
several degrees and be close to average for the time of year.
Outlook for Friday, Saturday and Sunday
A new high should build over southeast Australia in the wake of the trough
keeping most of the state fine and mostly sunny through the outlook period.
Isolated showers are expected about parts of the east coast as the winds turn
onshore over the weekend. Minimum temperature will remain below average with
early frosts persisting about the southern and southeast interior.
