Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 3/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weak surface trough extends across from the Gulf of Carpentaria into the
Capricornia. A high pressure system over central Australia will move slowly
eastwards during Sunday, extending a ridge across the Queensland interior.
Forecast for the rest of Sunday
Isolated showers along the north tropical coast. Fine and mostly sunny
elsewhere with dry southwest to southeasterly winds, fresh and gusty at times
over the northwest. A cool morning over the interior with more extensive areas
of early frost expected in the southern and southeast interior.
Forecast for Monday
The high pressure system is expected to move over eastern Australia,
maintaining a broad ridge across the state. Mostly fine, with only isolated
light showers along parts of the north tropical coast in the fresh onshore
airflow. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere with dry southwest to southeasterly
winds. A cool morning over parts of the interior with extensive areas of early
frost expected in the southern and southeast interior.
Forecast for Tuesday
A broad ridge of high pressure will remain across the state, maintaining fine
and sunny conditions over most of Queensland apart from some isolated showers
along the north tropical coast in a fresh onshore airflow. A cool morning over
the interior with extensive areas of early frost expected in the southern and
southeast interior.
Forecast for Wednesday
A surface trough is likely to move across the south of the state as an upper
trough moves across southeast Australia. The trough is likely to bring
increasing cloud and possible afternoon and evening showers over the south of
the state. The remainder of the state should remain fine and mostly sunny with
only isolated showers about the far northeast tropical coast. Early frost is a
possibility over the southern and southeast interior but maximum temperatures
should be above average over most of the state.
Outlook for Thursday, Friday and Saturday
The trough should contract offshore during Thursday with showers generally
clearing to exposed coastal areas in the south during Thursday. Isolated showers
are then expected about the northeast coast during Friday and Saturday as the
winds turn onshore in response to a new high moving east across southeast
Australia. The remainder of the state should remain fine through the outlook
period.
