Australia -- Queensland Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 2/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary at issue time
A Strong Wind Warning has been issued for Southeast Gulf of
Carpentaria waters for Sunday.
For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's
web site www.bom.gov.au/qld
Weather Situation
A surface trough extends across from the Gulf of Carpentaria into the
Capricornia. A high pressure system is expected to move over Western Australia,
and extends a ridge across the Queensland interior. An upper level trough is
moving over eastern Queensland today, and offshore by tonight.
Forecast for the rest of Saturday
Isolated morning showers about Fraser Island. Isolated showers over far
eastern districts north from the Capricornia, tending scattered about the North
Tropical Coast. Morning fogs in the east. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere with
dry moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, fresh and gusty at times over the
west. Early frost patches in the southeast interior. Moderate to fresh east to
southeasterly winds along the northeast tropical coast. A Very High fire danger
in the Northwest, Gulf Country, Central West, Northern Goldfields and Upper
Flinders districts.
Forecast for Sunday
The high pressure system is expected to move into central Australia with a
ridge across Queensland. Isolated showers along the north tropical coast in a
fresh onshore airflow. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere with dry southwest to
southeasterly winds, gusty at times over the northwest. A cool morning over the
interior with more extensive areas of early frost expected in the southern and
southeast interior.
Forecast for Monday
The high pressure system is expected to move over eastern Australia,
maintaining a broad ridge across the state. Mostly fine, with only isolated
light showers along parts of the north tropical coast in the fresh onshore
airflow. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere with dry southwest to southeasterly
winds. A cool morning over parts of the interior with extensive areas of early
frost expected in the southern and southeast interior.
Forecast for Tuesday
The high pressure system is expected to move into the northern Tasman Sea,
maintaining a broad ridge over the state. Isolated showers along the north
tropical coast in a fresh onshore airflow. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere with
dry southwest to southeasterly winds. A cool morning over the interior with
extensive areas of early frost expected in the southern and southeast
interior.
Outlook for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
The high pressure system is expected to weaken east of New Zealand on
Wednesday, with predominantly fine and sunny weather over Queensland apart from
isolated showers along the northeast tropical coast in an onshore airflow.
Maximum temperatures trending above average over the interior as a new surface
trough moves across the state during Wednesday and Thursday. This trough
combined with an upper level trough is likely to increase cloud near the
southern border on Wednesday, before increasing instability and possibly
producing some showers over southeast districts on Thursday. The next high
pressure system moving across southern Australia on Thursday will extend a new
ridge into Queensland with fine and mostly sunny conditions expected to prevail
across the state on Friday in the wake of the trough. Early frost patches in the
southern and southeast interior on Wednesday and Friday.
The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST
Saturday.
