MELBOURNE - Aug 2/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A 1027 hPa high pressure system centred west of Perth extends a ridge over the north of South Australia. This high will move eastwards to be centred over the north of South Australia during the weekend then over the eastern states early next week. A cold front will move across the south of the state during Saturday followed by a series of troughs during next week. Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers about the southern agricultural area contracting to near southern coasts during the evening. Fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong at times near the coast, easing during the evening.Saturday 3 AugustIsolated showers near southern and western coasts extending over the agricultural area and far south of the pastoral districts late morning and afternoon, increasing to scattered showers over the southern agricultural area during the afternoon. Possible isolated thunderstorms about southern coastal districts late morning and afternoon. Possible early morning fog and frost about the Flinders district and south of the pastoral districts. Cool with freshening westerly winds in the south, strong at times near the coast. Light to moderate south to southwesterly winds in the north.Sunday 4 AugustIsolated showers over the agricultural area, the Flinders district and far south of the pastoral districts. Showers scattered at times about the Mt Lofty Ranges south of about Clare and increasing to scattered about the Lower South East during the afternoon. Possible morning fog about the West Coast and southern Pastoral districts. Cool with moderate west to northwesterly winds in the south and light winds in the north.Monday 5 AugustIsolated showers about southern coastal districts. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the north. Moderate northwesterly winds freshening about coastal parts.Tuesday 6 August Isolated showers about the agricultural area. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the north. Moderate northwest to southwesterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Friday afternoon to midnight Tuesday are expected to be up to 5 mm over the southern Pastoral districts, the northern agricultural area and the West Coast district, increasing to 5 to 15 mm over the southern agricultural area. Falls of 10 to 30 mm are possible about the Mount Lofty Ranges and the southern coasts. Wednesday until FridayIsolated showers about the southern agricultural area contracting southwards and clearing on Thursday then redeveloping near southern and western coasts later on Friday. Cool in the south grading to warm in the far north.
