MELBOURNE - Aug 1/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak ridge of high pressure extends across New South Wales, while a low over the Coral Sea moves slowly southeast. The high's presence will continue to weaken during Friday as a series of cold fronts approach from the west. The first front is expected to cross the state later Friday and Saturday, bringing wet and windy weather to parts of the southern inland although no significant rainfall totals are likely. The redevelopment of a ridge across the state's north during Sunday will restrict the movement of subsequent fronts, with the impacts generally being limited to areas south of the border. Forecast for the rest of FridayMorning fog and frost patches in the east, mainly about the tablelands and adjacent slopes. Isolated showers developing over the southern inland during the afternoon, increasing to rain areas on the western slopes of the southern ranges during the evening and falling as snow above 1200 metres. The chance of afternoon showers over the northern ranges and the far north coast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Northwest to southwesterly winds, becoming fresh and gusty across southern and central districts.Saturday 3 AugustIsolated showers across the southern inland, tending scattered on the western slopes of the southern ranges and falling as snow above 1200 metres. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. West to southwesterly winds, fresh at times across southern districts.Sunday 4 AugustIsolated showers across the southern inland, tending scattered on the western slopes of the southern ranges and falling as snow above 1300 metres. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. West to southwesterly winds, fresh at times across southern districts.Monday 5 AugustThe chance of showers on the southwest slopes and adjacent areas, more likely on near the Alps with snow showers developing. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere.
