Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 30/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system near New Zealand is extending a ridge towards northeast New South Wales. A low pressure trough over central and southeast New South Wales will move towards the northeast during the day, bringing unsettled weather to many districts. Following the trough, a cold front will sweep across southern parts of the state, bringing cooler conditions during Wednesday and Thursday as the next ridge strengthens from the west. Another low pressure trough is forecast to cross the state at the end of the week.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms in central and eastern districts, becoming scattered about central parts during the afternoon, then contracting to the coast during the evening. Showers falling as snow above 1600 metres on the Alps. Fine and partly cloudy in the far west. A south to southwesterly change extending throughout, freshening along the southern coast later in the day.Wednesday 31 JulyIsolated showers along the northern half of the coast, more likely about the Lower Hunter and Mid North Coast. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Early fog and frost areas, mainly over the ranges and southern inland. South to southeasterly winds.Thursday 1 AugustIsolated showers along northern and central parts of the coast, more likely around the Port Stephens area. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Early fog and frosts, mainly over the ranges and southern inland. South to southeasterly winds.Friday 2 AugustIsolated showers extending from the southwest of the state through to the western side of the central ranges. Showers tending scattered across the south, particularly in the Riverina and South West Slopes, and the chance of thunderstorms in the southwest. Fine and mostly sunny in the north. North to northwesterly winds, turning westerly in the west later.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Tuesday.Product IDN10031
