Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 29/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the eastern Tasman Sea is extending a ridge over northeast New South Wales. A trough lies over western New South Wales and a cold front lies through the Bight. The cold front is expected to move through southern parts of New South Wales on Tuesday, with an associated southerly change reaching central parts of the New South Wales coast Tuesday night before weakening on Wednesday as the high pressure ridge becomes re-established across the southern Tasman Sea and southern New South Wales. A low pressure system will begin to develop over the northern Tasman Sea on Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers and possible thunder from the central north to the southeast, showers tending scattered about the western slopes of the southern ranges with snow on the peaks. Isolated showers also over the far northeast but fine for the remainder though. North to northwesterly winds, fresh and gusty on the southern and central ranges. A west to southwesterly change in the west.Tuesday 30 JulyFine and partly cloudy over the western half of the state. Isolated showers over the eastern half, tending scattered over the western slopes of the ranges and the southeast of the state. Showers falling as snow above 1600m on the Alps. The chance of thunderstorms over the central ranges, slopes and plains ahead of the change. A west to southwesterly change extending across the eastern half during the morning, with a southerly change following during the afternoon.Wednesday 31 JulyIsolated showers along the northern half of the coast, more likely over the Lower Hunter and southern Mid North Coast. Fine remainder. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Early fog and frost areas, mainly over the ranges and southern inland. South to southeast winds.Thursday 1 AugustIsolated showers along northern and central parts of the coast, more likely around the Port Stephens area. Fine and mostly sunny remainder. Early fog and frosts, mainly over the ranges and southern inland. South to southeast winds.Friday 2 AugustIsolated showers extending from the southwest of the state through to the western side of the central ranges. Showers tending more scattered in the south, particularly in the Riverina and South West Slopes. Fine and mostly sunny in the north. Partly cloudy remainder. The chance of a thunderstorm or two in the far southwest. North to northwesterly winds, tending westerly in the far west later.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EST Tuesday.Product IDN10031
