Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 28/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is moving slowly eastwards. A deep low pressure system south of the Bight will move southwards today. An associated cold front will weaken as it enters western Victoria tonight and slipping away to the south Monday morning. The cold front will be followed in quick succession by another front that will move through southern Victoria Monday night and Tuesday morning. The next high pressure system will move over Victoria Tuesday night and during Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayA band of patchy rain moving over across the State, reaching the far east at night but little if any reaching the far northwest and the far southeast. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms to follow. Generally mild with fresh north to northwesterly winds, locally strong over southern and mountain districts and reaching gale force about the Alpine peaks.Monday 29 JulyAreas of rain clearing from the northeast in the morning. Isolated showers elsewhere, but mostly dry over the far northwest and also over East Gippsland. Showers increasing over the southwest during the evening. Cool to mild and partly cloudy with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, strong at times about the eastern ranges. A colder southwesterly change entering the far southwest during the evening.Tuesday 30 JulyScattered showers clearing from the northwest early morning and becoming isolated elsewhere before contracting to the coast during the evening. Showers falling as snow above 1200 metres by the afternoon. A cooler day with moderate southwesterly winds extending throughout during the morning.Wednesday 31 JulyFine apart from the chance of a shower over the far northeast during the afternoon. Local morning fog and frost, then a cool day with light winds tending light to moderate northerly across western districts during the afternoon.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EST Sunday.Product IDV10310
