Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 26/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system centred over eastern New South Wales will drift slowly eastwards over the Tasman Sea on Saturday. Meanwhile a deep low pressure system and associated cold front will cross the Bight during Saturday but they will weaken and slide southeastwards by the time the front enters western Bass Strait late on Sunday or early Monday. This front will be followed in quick succession by another front that will move through western Bass Strait Monday night and eastern Bass Strait Tuesday morning.
Forecast for the rest of FridayDry and partly cloudy with light to moderate north to northwesterly winds.Saturday 27 JulyMorning fog and frost patches in the east then a cool to mild day. Mostly sunny in the east but high cloud increasing in the west with the chance of isolated late showers over the far southwest. Moderate northerly winds freshening over southern and elevated regions but lighter winds over the northeast and most of Gippsland.Sunday 28 JulyA band of rain developing over the west during the morning, reaching the far east at night but only isolated showers reaching East Gippsland. Rain easing to isolated showers over central and western districts during the afternoon and evening. Isolated thunderstorms possible over central and western districts, mainly in the afternoon. Cool to mild and generally cloudy with fresh north to northwesterly winds, locally strong in southern and elevated areas.Monday 29 JulyAreas of rain clearing from the northeast in the morning. Scattered showers in the southwest and near the ranges tending more isolated elsewhere in the south. Mainly dry over the northern plains and East Gippsland. Cool to mild and partly cloudy with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, strong at times about the eastern ranges. Winds tending moderate to fresh westerly in the west in the evening.Tuesday 30 JulyScattered showers over the northeast and about the central and western coasts. Isolated showers elsewhere near and south of the ranges. Mostly dry over the northern plains. A cooler day with moderate westerly winds extending throughout during the morning and becoming fresh to strong near the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Saturday.Product IDV10310
