MELBOURNE - Jul 24/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system will drift eastwards over New South Wales during today and Friday before moving out over the northern Tasman Sea on Saturday. A weak cold front will clip the far southwest of Victoria tonight before sliding southeastwards across Bass Strait on Friday morning. On Saturday a low pressure system and associated cold front will cross the Bight but they will also be weakening and sliding southeastwards by the time the front enters western Victoria late on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayMorning frost and fog patches, mainly in the north then a fine day with cloud increasing from the west. Isolated showers developing over the southwest at night. A cool day with light to moderate north to northwesterly winds.Friday 26 JulyIsolated showers extending to most southern areas in the morning but remaining dry over East Gippsland. The showers then contracting to the coast and clearing in the afternoon. Local morning frost or fog patches in the north, then becoming mostly sunny. A cool day with a light to moderate north to northwesterly wind, fresh at first near te coast.Saturday 27 JulyFine after morning fog and frost patches in the north and east. A cool to mild and mostly sunny day with a fresh to strong northerly winds developing over southern and elevated regions but lighter winds over the north and most of Gippsland.Sunday 28 JulyScattered showers developing over southern and mountain areas except East Gippsland. Isolated showers developing on the northern plains.
