Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jul 22/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A deep low pressure system to the southeast of Tasmania will drift northeastwards across the Tasman Sea on Tuesday. A large high pressure system will move over the Bight today then continue eastwards to lie just west of Victoria on Tuesday night. The high will enter western Victoria on Wednesday before lingering near northeastern Victoria on Thursday and Friday. A weak cold front will clip the far southwest of Victoria during Thursday night before slipping southwards.
Forecast for the rest of MondayScattered showers over southern and mountain districts, tending to rain periods near the coast. Isolated showers over the northern plains. Snowfalls above 1200 metres. Moderate to fresh northwesterly winds gradually turning west to southwesterly.Tuesday 23 JulyScattered showers over southern and mountain districts becoming isolated later in the day. Isolated showers possible over the northern plains. Snowfalls above 1200 metres. Early fog inland. Cool to cold, moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, strong at first along the Gippsland coast but gradually easing.Wednesday 24 JulyEarly fog and frost inland. Isolated showers in the south contracting to the southeast then clearing. Cool with generally light south to southeasterly winds.Thursday 25 JulyMorning frost and fog then fine until isolated showers develop in the southwest at night. A cool to mild day with light to moderate northwesterly winds.Friday 26 JulyIsolated showers in the southwest and also near the central coast but fine elsewhere apart from early fog and frosts. A cool to mild day with a light to moderate north to northwesterly wind, fresh at times in the south.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EST Tuesday.Product IDV10310
